The third annual Fernie Mountain Film Festival will be held 7 p.m. February 27th and 28th, 2009 at the Fernie Community Centre in Fernie, British Columbia.

The Fernie Mountain Film Festival is dedicated to filmmakers who spark awareness of mountain cultures, fragile environments, and the passion and perseverance of global explorers.

Submission deadline: January 31, 2009

Entry Fee: Free!

Features: Our two night event highlights one feature each night. The feature film falls within the boundaries of our mission statement and is an exceptional film. Length of features to be a minimum of 50 minutes to a maximum of 90 minutes.

Shorts: Each night we show a unique selection of short films and film clips. A wide range of topics are covered so that adventure sports, mountain cultures, and environmental topics are highlighted.
Length of shorts have no minimum and a maximum of 35 minutes. Films of a length of around 5-15 minutes are preferred. Films that are of value but are too long for the shorts and not chosen for the features may be asked to submit a trailer or clip to be shown during the short film segment.

FMFF may screen your film if it has been screened elsewhere.

Films may be submitted that were completed within the last three years.

Rights clearance for music in your film is your responsibility, FMFF will not be held responsible for any inclusion of uncleared materials.

Films should be submitted on a single DVD and be compatible for with standard North American DVD players.
We do not have high definition projectors.
It is preferred that you send the DVD in NTSC format.

Please send attached submission form with the DVD or fax to the number at the bottom of the page.

You may submit as many films as you like.

You will be contacted in early February if your film is selected for screening. Please make sure the email address you send us if correct.

If your film is chosen for ‘Best of festival’ or ‘Best local film’ you can expect your prize cash within 6 weeks of screening.
